Receiving Food With Gratitude Instead of Guilt
Kate Horney
“For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer” (1 Timothy 4:4-5, ESV).
Lord, I’m running on empty, carrying a burden that’s too heavy, and I need to hit the reset button. Give me rest from running hard and fast all year long, from working tirelessly to provide for myself, from stressing over the details of my future, and from trying to hold everything together all the time. I need rest for my weary soul. Jesus, I cast my cares on You because You care for me (1 Peter 5:7). I trade my heaviness for Your lightness, and I surrender to let You carry it all for me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24 (NIV)
“There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven …” Ecclesiastes 3:1 (CSB)
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” Psalm 139:13-14 (ESV)
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’” 2 Corinthians 12:9a (NIV)
Heavenly Father, thank You for the Truth of Your Word and the hope it brings to every situation. Sometimes it is difficult to look beyond my situation and challenges, but I ask You to help me remember Your promises that You have a hope and a future for me (Jeremiah 29:11). Give me the grace to walk confidently in all You have for me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
“Then Jesus asked, ‘What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it to? It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds perched in its branches.’” Luke 13:18-19 (NIV)
“She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: ‘You are the God who sees me,’ for she said, ‘I have now seen the One who sees me.’” Genesis 16:13 (NIV)
“For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer” (1 Timothy 4:4-5, ESV).
“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God ...” (John 1:12, ESV).
Jesus, as I feel my emotions, I’m going to choose not to rush through this pain. Because You lived on earth as a human, I know You understand how sadness can make Your heart feel like it’s...
“Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge” (Psalm 62:8, NIV).
